WHO IS A PLANT OPERATOR?

PLANT OPERATOR: This is the person responsible for operating the complex machinery in the plant. An operator is also responsible for supervising or controlling all or some machinery in the plant/firm.

PLANT: A plant refers to a site where specific processes takes place. It also refers to a place where an industrial process takes place or even complex construction.

Often a plant is mistaken for a factory.

A factory is the actual place where industrial processes takes place, manufacturing or production. Often consisting of several complex building filled with machineries where workers manufacture items or operate machines which process the items.

For example: a site that produces cement could be called a cement

 factory and not a cement site.

OPERATOR: An operator is the person who controls or operates the machines located in the factory. A machine could be something like an excavator, a borehole driller, stone crusher, water treating equipment etc.

ROLES OF A PLANT OPERATOR

1. An operator is responsible for the simple care and minor maintenance of equipment in the plant using procedures that do not require detailed technical knowledge of the equipment’s or system’s function and design.

2. An operator is also responsible for maintaining process or machinery safety and efficiency during operations.

3. An operator is responsible for controlling equipment or machinery of a plant in order to complete a given task with little to no hindrances

QUALIFICATION OF A PLANT OPERATOR

Must have a national ID.

Must have an educational certificate from any known and accredited institution

Must have a good conduct certificate

Must have a TIMS account. {Training Information Management System.}

Must have a recent passport photo.
